Register for Youth Leadership Conference Youth Leadership Conference (YLC) is for members 10-13 to have fun while learning and building leadership, citizenship, and teamwork skills to become a more engaged member in 4-H. The event will take place on Saturday, March 31, 2018 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. You can register here. Register for Favorite Foods Day This event will take place on March 3, 2018. Participants can register here. If you would just like to come and try food, you can arrive at the Berger Drive Auditorium at around noon. Register for Fine Arts Day The new county-wide event will take place on the same day and at the same location as Favorite Foods Day. Members can choose to submit art in three categories: Photography, Film, and 2-D Art. Registration can be found on this link. Homesteaders T-Shirt/Sweatshirt Design Contest Entries are due on January 18 Create a front design that represents our club and includes the words “Homesteaders 4-H Club” and 4-H Clover symbol for our new Homesteaders T-Shirts and sweatshirts! So far there is only one entry, so please take a couple minutes to create a design and submit your entries (you may submit more than one entry) on this form. We will vote on all designs next monthly meeting and the winner will get a free t-shirt! Leadership Overnight Applications due on January 20 Leadership Overnight is a county-wide leadership conference for members ages 12 and up at Walden West. Registration closes on January 20. This year the theme is Amazing Race and there will be a big emphasis on learning to be a global citizen. Some sessions include: Healthy Boundaries, Global Citizenship, Disability Awareness, Finding Your Spark in Activism, and more! So register before it is too late! Movie Night with El Sereno on January 27 Homesteaders and El Sereno are going to have a fun movie night together. This is a great chance for you to catch up with your existing friends from El Sereno, or make new friends! There will be snacks! Color Me Green 5K Registration for the 3rd annual Color Me Green 5K Run/1K Walk and first ever 4-H Health Fair is out. The event will take place on Sunday March 18 at Martial Cottle Park! County Council Report from the Club President: - California 4-H now has a partnership with JOANN Fabric store. I will find out more information on how to set up a card or an account so that part of your purchase will go towards 4-H. - The County Office wants to recognize/honor adult volunteers more, if you are interested in helping with that, email Susan Weaver [email protected] - Junior Fair Board Applications are out! The open positions are two spots for the stills team and two for the small animal team! Applications are due tomorrow, January 17 and the application is attached below.

Remember that youth members must have 80% attendance to receive pins for their 4-H hat (more info on this website). This event is a great opportunity for you to learn about county events such as Favorite Foods Day or Presentation Day through an informative and engaging workshop led by experts on the particular event! Members may choose to attend one, or all of the workshops; Favorite Foods Day, Presentation Day, Fashion Revue, Fine Arts Day, and Record Books! - Notice a new event? Fine Arts Day is a completely new event for Santa Clara County. The best way to learn about it is by attending Workshop Day. Our next club meeting will be on Thursday, December 14 at Pomeroy Elementary School at 7:15 p.m. The baking theme will be “Holiday/Winter” and there will be Gift Exchange for the youth members.
- Gift Exchange at Club Meeting on Thursday, December 14 - For every youth member that would like to participate in the Gift Exchange should bring a non-age and non-gender specific gift with a budget of around $10 dollars - Win a Sweatshirt on Thursday, December 14 - By raffle tickets for $0.50 cents each to enter to win a youth small sweatshirt - Cookie Exchange at Homesteaders Ranch on Saturday, December 16 - Join Homesteaders at the ranch for the annual Cookie Exchange from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Everyone attending should bring at least a dozen cookies to share. Please bring a copy of the recipes used so that other Homesteaders can take a picture, and so that members with allergies can see the ingredients used. - There will also be hot chocolate, games, arts and crafts, and music! - Barnes and Noble (on Stevens Creek) Gift Wrapping Event on Sunday, December 10 - All volunteer spots have been filled, but please visit Homesteaders at the Barnes and Noble where they will wrapping gifts for customers from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m! - Valley Church Outreach Event on Saturday, December 16 - There are still spots open for volunteers to bring their animals and talk about 4-H at Valley Christian Outreach Event on December 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Please let Fiona, [email protected] know as soon as possible if you can go - Leadership Overnight Applications due on January 20 - Calling all growing leaders ages 12 and up! Orchard Scary is October 29th at the Homesteaders Ranch 450 Brookdale Dr, Santa Clara, CA 95051
Pumpkin Carvers can come at 4:45, there will be tools provided but you can also bring your own. The other festivities–face painting, games, arts & crafts, scary stories– will be from 5:30 to 7:30 Come in costume and bring some food for the potluck! There will be candy, utensil, and plates, so consider bringing: - bowl of fruit - veggie platter - bag of chips If you are able to, come early at 4:00 to help set up! So many people came to the first meeting last month and we hope to see the same amount of people at our second meeting will be this Thursday, October 12th from 7:15 to 8:15. The location of the meeting will be announce soon (it will either be Homesteaders Ranch or Pomeroy Elementary School). At this meeting we will be going over important events, updates on enrollment information, and have a Computer Science Virtual Reality presentation!
